Evelina Zaharieva

Evelina Zaharieva is an accomplished astrophysicist with a master’s degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Sofia University. Currently, she is a dedicated doctoral candidate within the esteemed Department of Astronomy, focusing on the variability of quasars in the infrared spectrum through reverberation mapping and structure functions.

In addition to her research on active galactic nuclei, Evelina is deeply engaged in various facets of astrophysics. Her interests include active galactic nuclei, observational and photometric methods, black holes, neutron stars, exoplanets, and hydrodynamic simulations of protoplanetary disks. She also teaches stellar photometry to students and conducts practical sessions with telescopes, including data observation and processing.

Evelina takes an active role in the Department of Astronomy by participating in the preparation and conduct of the astronomy club. She also promotes astronomy at public events and is a key member and mentor in the Summer School of Space and Earth Sciences “Prof. Marin Buchvarov” for students.

Moreover, Evelina contributes her extensive skills and knowledge as a part of the EXO-Restart project team, actively enhancing her research horizons.
